Pine Hill Ranch now has Ranch raised Black Hereford BeefTM now available.
USDA inspected Beef from our Black Hereford sired cattle are now available from our ranch! We have Burger, Sirloin and Round Steaks. See the article below for information. While we still have managed to enjoy select fruits and vegetables from our gardens and area farms, there is no denying that the epic droughts that Texas has experienced in recent years have significantly impacted our production. We are in the process of planting our fall and winter crops and the cayenne and Jalapeno peppers seem to have survived and flourished! Thankfully the Homestead Farms CSA members have been provided with a steady supply of free range eggs. Whether brown, white, green or blue, these eggs are so rich and flavorful we eat them at all times of the day. Click Here to read our blog entry on free range eggs. We are also thankful for area growers who have perfected their craft even during a drought and continue to supply us with local treats. We are just now starting to get one of our favorites - East Texas sweet potatoes. Our Black Hereford Beef sales have skyrocketed as more area residents try it and want more. We continue to process more animals to meet the growing demand. In addition to offering the burger, we now have USDA inspected Sirloin and round steaks as well. See the information below for more information. Our CSA has made the news! Click Here for the story Country World newspaper did on our CSA.
2012 Onions were a bumper crop!
Onions drying in the sun.
An onion isn't just an onion!
Onions and other root crops do very well in our sandy soils. We generally have a bumper crop of onions each year! Last year we delivered over 50 pounds of red, white and yellow onions.

Healthy fall vegetables, recipes
We love our greens!
Green leafy vegetables, such as kale, swiss chard, collard greens, spinach, cabbages and dark green and red leaf lettuce are high in carotenoids and best eaten raw in salads, on healthy sandwiches, lightly steamed or in nutritious soups.
Broccoli is good steamed, raw (as a snack or in salads) and cooked in soups, stir-fries and other dishes. Both the green flower heads and stalks are nutritious.
Brussels sprouts are best quickly steamed to preserve nutritional values and avoid releasing sulfur smells caused by excess cooking.
Garlic and Onions are most nutritious eaten raw in salads or healthy dips. But they also make great flavorings for just about any cooked dish.
Sweet Potatoes are delicious when baked and eaten plain, but we can't resist adding butter and brown sugar. It is a healthy alternative to processed sweets.
